American Board of Orthodontics

A Board Certified orthodontist is an orthodontist who has voluntarily gone through hundreds of additional hours of preparation to demonstrate the judgment, skills and knowledge required for providing the highest level of patient care. Board Certification is achieved through the American Board of Orthodontics, the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association, and affiliated with the American Association of Orthodontists.

Achieving board certification is the last step in a long and intensive educational experience to ultimately provide excellent patient care.

Nationwide, only 1 in 3 orthodontists are certified. Both Dr. Christopherson and Dr. Caldwell have achieved and maintained their certification.

American Association of Orthodontists

An orthodontist has not only completed a four year graduate program in dentistry to receive their DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery), but has also gone through a competitive residency. This residency is an additional 2-3 years and is specific training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.  Drs. Caldwell and Christopherson both obtained a Masters Degree during this time period, in addition to completing their Orthodontic residency.

American Dental Association

The ADA is the largest professional organization of dental professionals, and a great source of information on dental and oral health topics.
